Following the track “Trump Sucks” , Alex Skolnick of Testament doesn't give up and releases another song against President Donald Trump .
“Wear a F**cking Mask” arrives after Trump’s COVID-19 diagnosis, and the “warm” reception of the first song, as the guitarist said, “My recent homemade rap ‘Trump Sucks’ got so much attention, from being labeled as ‘an anthem’ and ‘brilliant’ to ‘pathetic’ and ‘nervous-inducing,’ that I had to keep going. Keeping to myself is something I’ve never been good at doing,” he also seems to confront those who said the first track was the peak of his rap technique.
“The loss of my all-time favorite guitarist, Eddie Van Halen , delayed things by about a week while I and the world mourned,” he says. “Coincidentally, this project includes some of the most directly Van Halen I’ve ever done; so much so that I got my exact replica of his guitar after some time (built by a friend of mine, Frankie Fulleda , who builds them just for fun).”
“EVH’s influence on a rap/hip-hop track? Absolutely. Eddie’s palm-scratching technique on VH’s track ‘Atomic Punk’ is a perfect substitute for a turntable sound (and easier than coordinating with a real DJ). The chorus is inspired by a VH groove so funky it could have worked for rap/hip-hop (‘Mean Street’). So, in light of that, it’s ironic and a little strange that EVH’s influence was felt so strongly before the news broke,” Alex concludes.
